HITT Hires CWS for One-Way Mirrored Film Installation Project in D.C.

WASHINGTON – HITT contracting has hired Commercial Window Shield for Phase 2 of a window film installation project for a government agency in the nation’s capital.

The project involves installing a one-way mirrored solar/privacy film over a previously installed clear security film on one side of one floor in a building at 1015 Half St. SE.

The tenant is the District of Columbia’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency [HSEMA]. In 2021, during a buildout by HITT of the same HSEMA space, Commercial Window Shield installed a clear security widow film on exterior windows.

The installation of the one-way mirrored solar/privacy film over the security film on one side of the floor is intended to block the view. People won’t be able to see inside HSEMA’s space but HSEMA employees will have an unobstructed view looking out.

Additionally, Commercial Window Shield will also be installing a one-way mirrored window film on another section of the floor but not over security film. That section of the building is very close to a neighboring building and HSEMA wants to prevent people on the same floor of that building from looking into HSEMA’s space.

In Phase 1, Commercial Window Shield’s security window film installation was part of HITT’s renovation of HSEMA’s office space. In Phase 2, HITT will be doing additional renovation work which will include Commercial Window Shield’s one-way mirrored window film installations.

A project timeline has yet to be established, but as usual Commercial Window Shield installers will work closely with HITT contractors to ensure its work will be completed in a timely fashion without impacting the renovation work.

Commercial Window Shield has had a working relationship with HITT, one of the country’s leading general contractors, since 2008. In addition to HITT, Commercial Window Shield works with other top general contractors, including Davis Construction, rand* Construction, D Watts, Harvey-Cleary Builders, Bognet and Gilbane Building Co.

Commercial Window Shield’s major focus has been security and solar control window film installation. But in addition to one-way mirrored films, the company also is expert in installing smart/switchable, Radio Frequency [RF], anti-bird strike and polycarbonate protective glass systems.

Its clients have included the U.S. Capitol, FBI headquarters, the Pentagon, all House of Representative and Library of Congress buildings, Grand Central Terminal, Merrill Lynch headquarters, the United Nations, the Willis [former Sears] Tower, O’Hare and Seattle international airports, and the Philadelphia and Denver mints.
